Too Old for Princesses…

“I am too old now for the Princesses.”

This is what my daughter said to me right before we left on our trip to Walt Disney World to celebrate her tenth birthday.  So I did not plan any princess breakfasts or dinners.  We did not plan on going to the Princess Meet and Greet.  She was now too mature for that.

Then as we sat in the tent waiting for her brother to ride Dumbo she looked up at me and asked, “Can I go see Ariel?”

I took her and I am so glad I did.  My moody tween melted back into my little girl for a few moments.  She may be too old for princesses but I hope she is never too old for magic and make-believe.

This story reminds me of my 12 year old daughter. When we are in DW, she is my baby girl again.
