Cosmic Ray’s – Chicken & Ribs

So we have 2 hungry kids and are in Tomorrowland. Cosmic Ray’s is not usually the place we would head to but we had heard such wonderful things about the 1/2 Chicken and BBQ Rib Combination Plate we decided to give it a try.

The restaurant was crowded when we arrived. We finally found 2 two seat tables way in the back of the restaurant. Disney was not implementing their seating plan where you can not go to a seat until you have all your food as our son is in a medical stroller which is quite large and cumbersome and it took us almost to the time the food arrived to just be able to find and get to a seat. For anyone with a wheelchair or medical stroller this restaurant can difficult to maneuver through when crowded. The tables are fairly close together and the aisles are not clearly defined.

These pictures show our two platters that we ordered to split between the four of us, 2 adults and 2 children. The top picture shows the ribs a bit better and the bottom picture shows the 1/2 chicken a bit better.

My daughter gave the ribs 2 thumbs up. The food was good, not great slow cooked BBQ but good tasting food just the same. The portions were huge so we had no problem getting enough food to feed all of us from the two plates.

The chicken was moist but seemed almost a bit greasy from the skin. The ribs could have done with a bit more sauce but overall they were actually better than I thought they would be. When I looked at our plates at the end the kids had picked the bones clean from both the chicken and the ribs.

The mashed potatoes were flavorful and hot when we got them. They did not seem like a boxed potato but rather a real red mashed potato. The beans were warm but slightly overcooked, for those of us who like them just blanched, but not to the point where they were inedible. These were actually the first two items that were completely devoured off the plates.

With a pre-tax total of $40.14 – $13.99 for each plate with two large sodas costing $2.49 each and a two small round dessert cakes for $3.59 we were very glad to be on the Disney Dining Plan. But if you are paying out-of-pocket for lunch this could be a great option rather than buying four separate meals buy two plates such as this and split it.
